Recurring Sore Throat & Tonsillitis

Strep throat, also called streptococcal sore throat, is an infection of the throat and tonsils caused by a bacterium called Streptococcus pyogenes. BLIS K12™ was developed to specifically target strep throat and provide protection from it recurring.

The Streptococcus pyogenes bacteria that can cause strep throat (and associated bacterial tonsillitis) can result in the serious complications of rheumatic fever and kidney disease. For this reason, it is important to seek medical advice and treatment if strep throat is suspected.  Antibiotics is the best treatment for strep throat and it is important that the full course is taken

Strep throat is contagious. It is spread by close contact with an infected person, usually by inhaling airborne droplets from an infected person. Close-quarter living conditions, such as a family home, and school and university hostels, provide an ideal environment for the transmission of strep throat from one person to another. There is an approximate 40% risk of getting strep throat from an infected family member.

A great way to help protect yourself against a strep throat infection is by taking a daily high-dose oral probiotic such as ThroatGuard PRO.  ThroatGuard PRO contains BLIS K12™ - a new generation of advanced oral probiotics, developed from a special strain of beneficial bacteria called Streptococcus salivarius that is found to occur naturally in the healthy mouths and throats of adults and children. BLIS K12™ works in 2 ways:

1.     The 'good' bacteria (BLIS K12) crowd out the bad bacteria that can negatively affect your health.

2.     BLIS K12 also inhibits the bad bacteria, providing protection against them coming back.

Think of it as a guardian at the gateway to your body.

You can take probiotics after finishing antibiotics- in fact, this is the perfect time to take them.  Antibiotics are the standard treatment for strep throat and tonsillitis.  The way they work is by killing all the bad bacteria that cause these conditions.  It is important to take the full course even if you start feeling better because the bad bacteria is persistent.

As well as killing the bad bacteria – antibiotics also kill all the good bacteria.  Taking an oral probiotic like ThroatGuard Pro or DailyDefence straight after antibiotics allows the good bacteria to repopulate as quickly as possible and leaves you protected against the bad bacteria re-infecting.
